Press
Release
Paul Doswell has
resigned as an Equity Director of Eastleigh Football Club. Having considered
his involvement for some time, Paul feels that it is best, certainly for
himself, if he steps down from the board and from his involvement in the
football side of the Club. He considers that it is now time for other people
“to step up to the plate” and to contribute to making the club a
success.
The
Club Chairman, Paul Murray, comments: “Paul has been the driving force in
taking the Club from the Wessex League to the Conference South. His
contribution to this process has been immense. I, for one, will sorely miss
him. I have worked closely with Paul throughout the last five years and he
has always been a most important part of the team that has got us to where
we are today. He has been a player, manager, director and shareholder here
at Eastleigh and his legendary status at the Club is secure. We will now
move forward and continue to build on what Paul has started.”

Manager of the Month
The
award for April goes to Maidenhead United manager Johnson Hippolyte.
Maidenhead began the month with the threat of relegation hanging over them
after defeat at fellow strugglers Dorchester Town. Hippolyte’s side then
went on to win three successive matches scoring 10 goals and only conceding
once, to ease their fears of the drop. Two further clean sheets in their
final two games gave them the points for a respectable 17th
placed finish and another season in the Blue Square South.
Player of the Month
Hampton &
Richmond striker Lawrence Yaku wins the Blue Square South award after
maintaining his sides’ good form with a number of important goals and
assists during the month. Yaku found the net 4 times as Alan Devonshire’s
side finished in the highest position in their history.

Thurrock
v Eastleigh
Blue
Square South
Needing
a win to secure a play off place, the Spitfires failed to achieve in a poor
display against Thurrock, but nevertheless ended 6th in the table. This is
their highest ever finish and congratulations must be given for a
creditable season!
Congratulations
also go to Lewes as champions and we wish good luck to Eastbourne, Hampton, Fisher and
Braintree who must slug it out in the play offs for the runners up position.

St.
Albans City v Eastleigh
Blue
Square South
After
a bright start, the Spitfires throw away a one goal lead to go 3-1 behind
early in the second half. Despite pulling the deficit down to one, they
squander two gilt edged opportunities late in the game to secure a play off
position. Their hopes of a chance of Conference football now remain on a win
at Thurrock next Saturday.

Ray
Murphy's London Marathon
"Well it took a little longer than
expected, Six hours six minutes and twenty nine seconds according to the
Floras Marathon time clock, when the target apart from just finishing was
between five and six hours.
But what a day, the atmosphere was absolutely
electric. Over 35,000 runners and half a million people lining the streets
of London cheering you on. The first ten miles were fine then after
about twelve both my hamstrings really tightened and although stretching
several times, they would not loosen and the second half of the marathon
turned into a mere walk the course just to finish.
In addition to that just over £1500 so far
has been raised for my chosen charity The Great Ormond Street Hospital.
The aim now I would love to go back next year,
cos I now know that I am sure I could touch the five hour mark."

Lewes
v Eastleigh
Blue
Square South
Looking
for a point away from home against top of the table Lewes, the Spitfires
were holding their own until frustrations and tempers frayed a little. At
two apiece, it looked like a draw was in the bag but after the dismissal of
midfielder Peter Adeniji, the pressure was too much for the away side.
