Central defender who signed for AFC Bournemouth from Tooting & Mitcham in the summer of 2010. He spent time out on loan at Eastbourne and Lewes in his first season with the Cherries, and after a good pre-season was hoping to force his way into Lee Bradbury's first team plans in the 2011/12 campaign.
Mitchell left AFC Bournemouth following a frustrating 18-month spell at Dean Court in December 2011 midway through a three-year contract, which was terminated by mutual consent to pave the way to signing for Eastleigh.
Nelson, who failed to make a first-team appearance for the Cherries after signing from Ryman League football, completed his move to the Spitfires on the 16th December 2011.
He made 12 appearances during a loan spell with Blue Square Bet Premier side Lincoln City prior to joining Eastleigh.
Speaking to the AFC Bournemouth official website, Nelson was reported as saying: “I’m looking at the positives now. I can move on and sign for a new club. I’m looking forward to playing some games and moving on with my career.
“It’s been a tough few years but it has been a good experience. I came from non-league and it was a big step but I can take this experience and use it in the future.”
Mitchell can play at right back or centre half and will add significant flexibility to Ian Baird's squad. The young defender impressed with a solid display on his debut at home to Boreham Wood where he made a winning start to life with Eastleigh whilst also helping the team to a clean sheet.
